i have just been looking on ebay for personal plates and came accross this one item no#6547083834 which i assume is M40 UTD. Now i may be incorrect and maybe one of our pc's might put me right but surely it is illegal to alter the 0 in the number to look like a n in which case this guy is selling illegal plates - any ideas, im just curious

Correct, it is illegal to alter number plates with the intention of changing the appearence of a letter or number in order for it to resemble a different letter or number. (Does all that make sense LOL)

Just had a look at that on ebay. He has covered himself by explaining that the number plate is M40 OTD and that it is intended for meets/shows etc. He goes on to say that it has in the past been fitted with screws obscuring the bottom and top of the two 'o's to form a N and a U respectively (illegal), but he can't be held responsible for someone buying the plate and doing that themselves. So the sale is above board.
