left work this evening and got in the car, set off an noticed water down the windscreen pillar looked up and the roof was saturated, it seems my FF sunroof is leaking, had a quick look and it looks like it needs the seal sorting out, would i be able to make a warranty claim ??

thats not the worse bit, driving home on motorway in very heavy rain, lots of surface water and i hit something on the carriageway, huge thud underneath the car, no body panel damage but on returning home i had a good look underneath and this is what i saw.

its made a dent in this "piece" of the underside of the car and if you look at the rearward looking shot its bent the lip of the suspension arm. ive checked closely and the damage looks superficial but its definitely hit pretty hard.

If anyone is expert enough to tell me whether i need to have this checked out asap id appreciate it.

Is the gouge in a key part of the chassis?

should i worry about the small ding in the suspension arm even though it appears to be completely straight and only has a relatively small ding in it..

also do i need to get the gouge treated as it has taken what i assume is the underseal off. If so what is the best option for reparing the underseal damage, should it not need anything else doing ???

thanks

Matt

Looking at the pics mate, you will need to underseal that bit where it is scraped off. The hole doesn't look to be in the chassis rail area or a 'prescribed area' (MOT speak), there doesn't look to be anything to worry about in that pic apart from getting that hole repaired (water ingress etc). The bottom wishbone pic just shows damage to the leading edge lip, you say it isn't bent so it should be okay, just get the tracking checked as it may have knocked it out slightly. If the handling/steering doesn't feel any different then you should be okay. If it pulls or drifts then get it checked properly. Hope this helps you out a bit mate.

Hi,

For the sunroof .... double check you haven't got a leaf or some debris across the seal (I had this on my Vectra B, I was convinced the seal had gone because I got soaking wet one morning - turned out that a very small leaf had bridged the seal).

If the seal is damaged - you will need to check it is not accidentally damaged prior to a warranty claim, see what your dealer says

The under car ding ..... best get it checked out by a delear or garage, just to be safe

cheers,

the sunroof leak is where the join is on the seal, theres no debris, ive had a real good look tonight if i close it from the slide position you can see that its the seal thats not quite "sealing" , id assume it was claimable on the warranty but just wanted to check with those who know more than me

If you bought via Network Q then you will find that water ingress is not covered. You will find this in the Network Q handbook under the section whats not covered. You can try with your dealer but they may quote the book!

Mine is an 2004 policy and it is not covered, it may have changed on later policies??

Paul.

well my 1.9 CDTi has been at vauxhall for 2 days now, they invited me to go and have a look at the damage, so they could explain what needs to be done, so i popped up. NS rear suspension needs complete replacement, complete mess to be honest bent bolts shattered bush and damaged hub and seriously damaged wheel. So new rear NS suspension, wheel, hub, and reparation work to underseal.

one thing though, both my mate and the vauxhall dealer told me that the rear suspension is adjustable as in adjustable without taking the whole thing to bits ... is this right ? or am i misunderstanding what they meant ?
