Awesome mate, mine's all Jayson'ed up and I love it! It'll only get better as the fuelling settles down as well, give it around 150-200 miles and you'll think you have a new motor :D
What sort of figures did you get on the 1.9CDTi mate? I suspect there's a few members out there waiting with baited breath...

190bhp, but it feels more :D 286 torque thingys
and £300 with dyno run :)

That rocks mate and as I'm sure you're now aware, it's not all about the figures with Jayson's maps, it's the whole driveability thing. Bet your 'torque thingys' come in just where you want them and hang on longer than they did before??
trucker
21st July 2006, 18:26
the whole driving of the thing is in a different class now, put your foot down now and its just..........hang on :D
i reckon if i put it back on the dyno now {280 miles later} its got to be almost 200bhp, with the twin powerflow exhaust and kn filter and now a remap it just doesn,t want to stop pulling
got 1 more mod to do and then i,ll finally get round to some photo,s :o
{but it will have to wait till after my hols next week}.

I,m glad you are pleased with it, the idea of remapping my 3.2 gets even stronger when I hear good reports about a remap.. don,t know how much the insurance would go up by though.

You must do it, what ever your car's performance is at, once Jayson has played with it you will notice a improvement all through the rev range.

Did you have to go through the same rigmarole with taking the ECU apart as you did on Robbie's 3.0CDTi?
From the reactions of Robbie and of Trucker, looks like your maps are working really well with the diesel boys, never know you might see a few more of them dropping their tuning boxes and joining us when we come back and mob you in September ;) :D
I'm bringing the Wife's 1.8 Astra Coupe, it'll have a K&N flat panel in by then, reckon you'll squeeze a couple of horses and a couple of feet of torque out of it?

We have the latest software of Optican2 now so direct through the obd port now.
This means no need to remove the ecu any more.
Its the latest equipment anywhere on the plannet and is the only system to do the latest edc16 dme`s so is a great thing for us to have saving time on stripping certain cars for ecu`s.
As for the wifes car, i guarantee it will be quicker when it rolls out of the gates than it was when it rolled in :)

The standard tyres really aren't up to the job with a tuned up 1.9CDTI. You need to get some high quality WIDE tyres on her to take advantage of the torque.

Wider tyres = more friction = less acceleration + higher emissions. Better going round corners though.
nutron
30th July 2006, 23:27
would be less acceleration but for the fact that the 215 NCT5s just can't handle the torque so you can't accellerate anywhere near the max a 1.9CDTI is capable of when tuned.
I had 215s on when I had the box alone, with just 280lbft it couldn't handle it, with 354lbft! I would melt my tyres every time I put my foot down.
You won't have the same problem Spikey because although you have a goodly amount of power you don't have the torque.
Increaseing the tyre width did introduce some heavy torque stear because the wheels are gripping rather than spinning.
Spikeyİ
30th July 2006, 23:35
NCT5's wouldn't handle the torque on a childs trike! The compound is just too hard, they are designed as high milers not performance tyres. Any decent sport orientated tyre will grip better at 215 size, 225's are a good compromise and a darn site cheaper than 235's on anything smaller than 19"s.
After my 'suitcase incident' on the M5 last week, I can highly recommend Goodyear F1's, anything less and i'd probably be dead right now.
Anyway...

just a quick question what is the smoking like under full throttle?
mine with powerclick box smokes a lot even on standard setting
Still worth it as face on 525d driver was surprised as a lowly 1.9 was going past him while he was flat out :D
