Hello All,
I'm thinking of changing my stock headlight bulbs to Philips Vision (H7)
The bulbs look a nightmare to change without shredding your hands to bits ... any tip[s on how to change the headlight bulb and survive ;)
Cheers

When I did mine my hands ended up in ribbons and my patience was tried to the limit, very worthwhile though. The washer bottle pipe just pulls straight up & off ..makes life a bit easier.but I have hands like shovels *lol*
buy them from Halfords and see what they'll charge you to fit them. if its less than a fiver believe me (and Bainie) its gota be worth letting them do it. :)

That's a very good idea. I wish I'd thought of that.

is it really that much of a pain in the *** ?
What are the steps required to do a DIY change? I lke the look of some of the H7's on ebay
Cheers
I've put H7 Ultra White Bulbs in mine mate, and yes I cut my hands up, but thought it was worth it. If you've got massive shovels for hands you may find it a little difficult, but not too much.

do these bulbs make a big diference to the lighting as most of my driving is at night
cheers
I found them an improvement over the standard VX bulbs but still think the lights on my wifes Meriva are better than my Vec :(

would you suggest changing/upgrading to the ultra white bulbs???
Yes mate do the upgrade. I wonder what the facelift headlights will be like, has anyone took one for a test drive?

I`ve heard that the vec c lights are poor, and they are.
In my vec b I upgraded the lights to philips + 50 or osram silver star one of those.they were a huge improvment than previous. So it`s something I`ll try to do before winter cos it`s not used alot at night - my C that is.

i have a 56 plate vectra and hated the standard bulbs so ive put in some extra brilliance bulbs that i got from halfords, i got them as theyre ment to be 90% brighter. the passenger side was easy enough after removing the washer bottle neck but the drivrs side is a bit of a pain with the airbox in the way. it still didnt take long and the bulbs are brillaint. i drive alot at night and love the way the bulbs look and theyre definatly alot brighter.id recommend them to anyone.

Have a look on ebay for a store called ACEPARTS
there great, the bulbs are guaranteed for 6 months too. ;)
regardless of how good your bulbs are, the beam of light it made by the headlight unit, so all you can alter is the colour and crispness of the light
look at lighthouses, they use 100w bulbs and they shine for miles, its all down to the reflector
fiting the bulbs is easy but can be a pain if you have big hands, get your missus or a kid to fit them, much easier then :D

when you come to change the drivers side bulbs, just remove the air box as this will help alot :D

On Facelifts 56plate. Are both the dip and mainbeam bulbs H7.
Read a few threads on this, and advice is a little contradictory, someone stating both are H7 and someone else saying H7 for dipped and H1 for main beam.
Can anyone clarify please. What types do I need for my 56plate facelift exclusiv. H7 & H1 or both H7.
I would mind upgrading my lights as the dip in particular is rubbish, but dont mind upgrading all front 4, just need to make sure I get right ones.
Cheers guys.

Pre-facelifts are H7 on both dipped and main beam . Facelifts are H7 on dipped and I believe they're H1 on main beam. H1's are smaller slimmer and flatter than H7's. And H1 bulbs are included in bulb sets for the facelift but not the pre-facelift. Got a feeling H1's are used in front foglights too, but I can't be sure.

Change them yourself. It's a doddle. Put on a pair of thin gardening gloves to save any cuts.
Also, pull out the washer bottle on the driver side.
I did this a few times on my old veccy. Takes literally two minutes

Easy to do on the prefacelift - just be careful not to scratch your hands and you'll be fine. No need to remove the airbox unless you have huge hands, it'll waste more time/effort than you'll save. I've changed dipped beam, main beam and sidelight bulbs, N/S and O/S on my wife's Signum and only needed to remove the washer neck.

Its easier than you think to remove bumper 2 screws on each wing and 2 plug clip things on front of bumper then 3 bolts on each headlight and hey presto 1 plug or leave plugged in personally id go for an HID kit well chuffed with them!

I am hopefully dismantling my headlights. to spray the innards and fix a condensation problem. Really am considering getting 8000k 50w hid's.
Are they checked at mot, or is it a touchy subject on here?
