Over on the mk3 Astras Owners club website one of their members organizes a local show for Vauxhalls only. As the guy says its not a huge affair but without the various clubs help, it never will be. Ive offered to stick it on our calendar and let you guys know about it. To be honest it sounds like a good do, and if I wasn’t on holiday I'd be certainly making the trip down.

If members in that area (or who want to travel) want to show a few other clubs what a club stand should look like, stick you name down here and I will update the main list on the astra owners site. Its a good chance for people to have a proper look at why we love Vectra C's as we are often outnumbered at most other shows. If there is somebody who is going and would like to take charge of our stand, please let me know.

ive been organising now for some weeks, a moderatly sized show for Vauxhalls, here in the South East of England. The site is on a race teams HQ which we have kindly been given permission to use at a very low cost. At this point let me make something perfectly clear...

This is by no means on the same scale as Billing or PV, I simply do not have the location or reasources to organise such an event. The idea here is that all Vaux owners can gather, have some food and drink, visit the trade stands in peace and quiet, rather then the hussle and bussle of the bigger shows.

So when is it?

19th August 2006. And hopefully every year after that.

Despite its remote looking location, it is easy to find and will be sign posted properly. If you after journey times :

Chelmsford / Colchester = 25 mins
Basildon / Romford / Southend = 45 mins
London = 1 Hour
Ipswich = 1 Hour 20 mins

So who is going?

So far I have confirmation of attendance from : Promotasport & Autovaux, and Courtenay Sport to confirm this week so some big names are heading down for us. We also have a Total Vauxhall reporter for the day (thanks Chip).

Anything else?

Yep, We will have three show awards :

Best modified : Open award to the best modified Vauxhall of the day. Not necessarily the most extreme, just the nicest all rounder.
Best concourse : Cleanest most mintest car at the show, Must be at least 6 years old.
Best engine bay : Cleanest, most presentable under bonnet. Excess of chrome is not needed, just to smart appearance and good organisation of mods.

Can we camp?

Yes you can camp on site. There are certain rules and regs though, people hooning around at 2 am in a drunken state can expect to be asked to leave! Other then that, you are welcome.

There are toilets on site and there will be a burger van (and not a rip off one either!) during the Saturday.

Entry is £5
Camping and entry is £10

Price includes entry into all the show awards mentioned above, prizes TBA

Just a quick note, after a discussion with Mark, to let everyone know that this year,as it is the first time the show has been run, we will sort our stand out as if it was a national show, ie Admin will promote the event, update lists and liase with the organiser. As it is a fairly small and relaxed affair, it’s a good one for the Nearest RO (in this case Mark the Cabby) to learn the ropes about stand organising. Mark will be working alongside Myself and as I wont be attending the actual show, due to being on holiday, Mark will be taking full control on the day and be responsible for the stand and arranging cars.

Hopefully we will get a good turnout for this. Personally its my kind of show, small, relaxed and the sort of show where everyone gets to look at everyone elses car and not get bored or knackered after getting halfway around.

So get you names down, theres some good traders going and at the end of the day, its basically an unofficial regional meet for the East/southern guys so it would be nice to show some support to Mark on his first major event.

Here you go peeps, A post extracted from the Mk3 Astras forum by the guy running the show. As you can see its on grass, but looks nice and flat. Hes obviously taking it seriously with the banner made up etc. Kinda peeved im on holiday when its on! I would love to see the attention your vectras/signums get. It will be fantastic!

Just to confirm also that we are booked in with the organizer and are currently fighting with corsa sport for a certain spot. They are lagging a bit so if we can break 10 cars, we get it!

Jamie has the banner (or MLC) and my brother has the stand in York. I wanted it all kept together but there wasnt enough room in cars after billing.

Hopefully Jamie can post the Banner (or someone collect from the west mids meet on sunday?) but the stand is too heavy to post really.

just to clarify, as we said at the outset, im going away on friday for a week so wont be at the show. Mark (the cabby) is taking over the organisation as the nearest RO so any info etc to contact Mark. He'll be arranging the cars etc on the day but im sure everyone will help him out.

We also have a Total Vauxhall reporter for the day.

I'm holding a special area for seriously modified Vauxhalls of extreme caliber. I have a few cars already sorted but would like a few more. If you have a seriously modded car and really want to show it off, please post a pic in here and let me know the details.

Directions

Some directions for everyeone...

From Ipswich

Take the A12 South bound, passing Colchester, Witham and then take Junction 20B - Hatfield Peveral
Follow the B1019 to the Maldon by-pass.
At first roundabout take the 2nd exit (right)
Second roundabout take the 2nd exit (straight over)
Third roundabout (Morrisons roundabout) 2nd exit (straight over)
Fourth roundabout 2nd exit (straight over)
Fifth roundabout 3rd exit (right)
Continue for 1.5 mile right to the SEVR on the left hand side.

From M25

Exit M25 at junction 28 - Brentwood A12
Follow A12 to Junction 18 Maldon/Danbury A414
Carry on straight for 2 miles through Danbury Village, over double mini roundabout
At the next roundabout (after double) turn left onto LimeBrook Way
Second roundabout (Morrisons roundabout) 3rd exit (right)
Third roundabout 2nd exit (straight over)
Fourth roundabout 3rd exit (right)
Continue for 1.5 mile right to the SEVR on the left hand side.

From M11

From M11 take Junction 8/8A in the direction of A120 Braintree/Colchester
Follow A120 for 4 miles to Braintree, then take slip road on to A131 Chelmsford
At first roundabout after slip road, take 3rd exit (right) under A120 fly over, then 2nd exit at roundabout after flyover.
Straight over the next roundabout, then right at the next past Tescos Petrol station
Take next right at roundabout towards Chelmsford, and straight over two more roundabouts.
At next roundabout (8th after leaving the slip road) turn left (1st exit) onto Essex regiment way A131. Follow Essex regiment way for 3 miles, straight over 3 roundabouts.
At fourth roundabout turn left onto White Hart lane.

Follow A131 (white hart lane) over three more roundabouts and follow signs for A12 London.
At junction 18 Maldon/Danbury A414
Carry on straight for 2 miles through Danbury Village, over double mini roundabout
At the next roundabout (after double) turn left onto LimeBrook Way

WHAT A FANTSATIC DAY!!! :rockon: :clap:

All started with an early morning meet at Mark the Cabby's with around 6 or seven vecs/signums blocking off Mark's road entirely for hand car washing/detailing.

MANY MANY thanks to Mandie for the delicious bacon butties, went down a treat!!

Mass convoy of approx. 8 cars then headed to the show. Such a laugh driving in convoy, with Micky deciding on various occasions that driving of the left is a bit boring now, and randomly leapt out into the right hand lanes.

We eventually got to the field and when we finally got the cars lined up the weather was looking fairly poor, up to this point it had been bright. It then rained for a little time, with the gazebo going up in record time due to the practise run we had last week at the pod.

By the time the gazebo was up it had stopped raining and the sun was shining nicely!!

Big Phil decided to join us later on due as he had got stuck in traffic - hope the return journey was quicker mate!

14 vectras in all were lined up as the pictures that'll come flooding in by others will show. A great result for the Cabby's first meet. The banner was looking fantastic, and will look even better next time with the extended frame in order for the griffin to be on show.

Mark's retrim looks fantastic!!! The car is simply stunning in every aspect!!

Micky's exhausts look and sound spot on, and Duncans repainted front end looks great, the bodyshop did a cracking job.

It wouldn't have been a meet if Mark wasn't busy fixing people's cars, and on this occasion he managed to get his hands on no less than 4 cars.

Neil got his irmscher spoiler fitted and looks great!! Suits your car perfectly Neil!

Jonno got his signum fog surrounds fitted and they look really good, we drove back together and they tie in really nicely with the irmscher grille! Car looks aggressive in the rear view.

It was great seeing all you guys that i had met before, and a pleasure meeting those of you who i hadn't.

Hope everyone got back safely - looking forward to the pictures, there should be some funnies!!

yep....definitely looks nice, you can barely even tell that the black strip runs the entire length of the windscreen, it looks as though its just th irmscher lettering that has been stuck on.

good choice Mark - you just had to get rid of the farmer who was giving you bad advice before fitting it!!!

although i never really got to meet anyone properly, it was good to see your cars down there.

i came along with Rob in his vectra c turbo, great turn out considering Dave ( the organiser) only got it going through word of mouth really and the help of the boards.

I was a judge on the day and was pleased with the quality out there

Great day, and good to see familiar faces againd and meet new ones. I think a big thanks has to go to Micky and Andy (AF and Pioneer) , Andyvec and Big Phil for travelling considerable distances to the meet. (Apologies if I forgot anyone else who travelled a distance).

Many thanks to Mandy for re-opening the kitchen when I arrived (:D) and serving up tea and bacon buttie - hit the spot. Thanks both of you for your hospitality.

Thanks to Andy (Suter) for doing the initial organisation for the show, and to Mark for taking over and seeing it through to the day.

Great day, lots of laughs and even managed to get slightly sizzled! For a day that was supposed to be a bit iffy for weather - it turned into a scorcher (bar one early short shower). See Harry, I did promise you a nice day! :D
