Hi everyone

Done the auto-door locking and single plip for all doors to open :)

[2004 ELITE 1.9CDTi]

I'm sure someone mentioned that there are scores of other secret programmable functions on the Vectra C ... does anyone know any more?

Cheers

Door to door illumination...
At night if you flick the main beam stalk before leaving the car the dipped headlights and reversing lights stay on for 30 seconds. Great if its dark where you park or in your garage with no lighting :)

Sounds like that crashes the ECU that runs the TC!

How can you turn the ignition off and still keep the engine running?!

It's in the manual somewhere, but if you switch off the ignition, then flick the indicator switch before locking the car, the parking lights on that side will come on.

Alex If your doing a new section don't forget the total closure, but also add you can open the windows using the key fob swiiches too. I Find a lot of people who know about the closure but not the 'opener' :)

I think pressing and holding the trip reset button with ignition off tells you when due for service,
if held and ignition switched on and held for a few more seconds it resets the service mileage.

NOTE ***I THINK*** i havn't actually tried it.

It works sorta like that, whilst holding in the trip with the key in the ignition turn the key so the dash lights come on, wait for about 20 seconds with the trip still in, the display will change to 20,000 miles, reset .... BUT ... it does not reset the oil life indicator so the service light will come on again before your service is due .....

Aaah, but they would not be secret if they were in the handbook ;)

I'm sure a Vx tech said that there were loads of 'extra' secret options available via the CANBUS ... just wondered what they were? secret menu's on the display etc?

Wahey.

Got it to work first time on my 54 SRi NAV. Have to say though it was much easier on my Fiat Stilo I had before this. There it was on the menu in the clock display. Quite a few other things as well which were handy, things like speed limiter warning, drivers door lock, and keeping boot locking independant of door locks.

Swings & roundabouts I guess.

Thought I'd give it one last try, got two beeps and immediately drove off. Hey presto.

CD30/MP3

Just been messing about with my cd30.

If you switch on the radio, (not cd) press and hold the Settings button for 5 seconds the unit will beep and possibly display "test mode"

pressing the AM/FM button now will display signal strength (i think)
pressing it again will display somthing else lol, dont know what it is.
pressing for a third time returns to station name.

pressing the reg button cycles through about 5-6 items... as to what they are your guess is as good as mine.

pressing BC cycles through the following:

HW: (this appears to be hardware installation/manufature date)
SW: (this appears to be surrent software version and date of upgrade)
OD:
LS:
DIMM:
LCD:
RDS:
SENS:
TC:
RC:
BUS:
WARN:
ACK:
STORE:

I'd be interested to find out what they are exactly...

Thre must be a 'secret' way of displaying any stored error Codes somewhere .... please post when you find the correct sequence.

Does the screen trick work with a CCR2006?

Not secret options but, things I found out a couple of months after ownership. .
1, Pressing the lower button on the cruise control stalk resumes your last set cruise control speed.
2, Flicking the indicator stalk half a flick to cancel your indicators works either way regardless of which way your indicating.
I never got a handbook(only service book!) with the car and probably wouldn’t of read it anyway. :D

ive just had a play with the cd70 navi unit in my 54 plate sri 150, (might have the model number wrong but im sure its 70! cant be bothered to go look!)
i preesed and held the settings button until i heard a beep, nothing happened, so i pressed and held the main button and a test mode came up, pushed all the buttons to clear all the options off the screen, tests the function of the button i presume, then displays test comlete. then i couldnt get out of it nor could i switch the ****** thing off!!!! i ended up calling the dealer who asked me to bring it in and as i was on my way the whole thing went off! switched it back on again and its fine!

anyone else been playing with thier navi unit? what did i do wrong???!!!

I did that, although it would only turn off when I turned the car off and took the key out, after that it was fine. Mine is a 54 plate Sri with CD70 Nav unit also.

It doesn't, but I'm sure there is a sort of debug mode somewhere. I saw it on a Tech note somewhere on TIS. I'll have to have a look......

As previously mentioned, a number of the things mentioned so far aren't exactly 'secret' - they're all mentioned in the handbook.

Here's another one that people may not be aware of, and I can't find it anywhere in my manual. It may be in other revisions of the manual.

This only applies to cars with Rain Sensors. If you double lock the car (has to be double locked) and leave any windows open, if it starts to rain the windows will shut automatically in your abscence!! If it doesn't rain, they will still shut automatically after something like two hours!!

can i ask duncan you mension double locking is this pressing the remote twice like on the old vectra b eg deadlocking the vehicle as mine at the moment only locks once and no more it doesn't matter how many times you press the remote it only locks once indicators flash and the car locks but no more than that

denzo
14th August 2005, 18:44
Beavis

If your car is fitted with deadlocks (and I think it is) they are activated by two single presses on the lock button on your remote control.
First press will lock all doors and flash indicators, second press will activate what sounds like a clunk ... this is the dealocks activating.

You could try re-synchronising your remote key .... put key into ignition and turn to position II and press the lock button.

Duncan

Yes, Beavis - pressing the key fob twice as Denzo has described above - expect that the indicators also flash on the second press.

i.e. first press - any unlocked doors will lock, indicators flash.
second press, slight clunk heard from locks (deadlocking), indicators flash again.

All vec C's have deadlocks so yours should do the above. If not, it may be a sync problem as Denzo said. The manual explains how to resync - although if the key wasn't synched it wouldn't even do the first lock and flash!

is it possible the car has been programed to double lock with a single click, as you can for unlocking all the doors rather than just the drivers etc

just a thought

Ah, good thinking BB. Hadn't thought of that one!! Do you know if you've activated that feature Beavis?

This thread (showthread.php?t=544) talks about it.

One question BB - if you activate the feature to unlock all doors/boot with one key press, does it then double lock all doors with one key press? I thought you still had to press the button twice.

I tried the thing where you can open the doors with one press, but when i tried to lock the car by the fob then... nothing/wouldnt lock.... got in and pressed the button on the door and nothing, at this point was sh*tting meself, then i got out and tried it again... still nothing... turned the engine on and tried the button inside and still there was nothing, (was in too much of a panic to think of just using the key to lock it) shut the door and went to go back in the house and then it locked itself, then opened like normal :\ :S was proper wierd, havent tried it since, that was on a 52 reg LS
