When im driving along the road with no music on I can hear a slight thumping sound coming from the driver side rear wheel. A guy I worked with heard it & thought it might be the wheel bearing that was needing fixed. Can anyone help? :(

Wheel bearings are usually more of a droning noise. Maybe more suspension related? (just a guess).

Thats the thing, I have changed to Koni shocks and I still get it. Its a repetitive noise. For example, the faster I go the more constant the noise is. if you know what I mean?

Think of the noise you would get if you had, say a stone in your tyre. Its sort of like that but only a vey slight thumping sound. Cant think of a better way to explain it. So it constant, the faster I go, the more frquent the noise.

I thought it might be an anti roll bar bush but it does not sound like it as it goes faster when you go faster, might sound a daft idea but you might have got a tyre that is out of round, what about putting the spare on and seeing if the noise is still there, that would then eliminate the tyre..

When you take the wheel off, take a look to see if there is any thing rubbing against the wheel, some wire or any thing of the likes, doesn,t sound like it to me, but worth a look.

Hi There, I was wondering if you managed to fix the thumping noise on your vectra, I have the same symptoms on my signum.

In light of the tyre recall on Goodyear Eagle NCT5's check your tyres to see if one of them is delaminating !!!!!!!

i have michelin primacys on the front and had original goodyears on the rear until i found a bubble on the offside inner wall, I replaced this tyre with a new goodyear nct5. the only original goodyear is the nearside rear goodyear nct5. The rumbling noise from the front is annoying, vauxhall took it for 2 test drives and I wasnt convinced he could hear the noise i could hear. He replaced sum bushes and track rod ends but it never went away. The cars steering feels strange at times, like driving around with flat tyres, like a bike with buckled wheels. This is with all tyre pumped to 30psi. I was debating getting all 4 shockers swapped, dealer price was £475 inc fitting and VAT. The technician though the shocks were ok, I felt as if he was telling me this is how the Signum feels. Its a lot of dosh to waste if the cars no different afterwards.

I wouldn't waste all that money on dampers on the off chance it may be them it sounds more like you should get the steering rack checked out properly first as i know there has been some issues with them in the past

If the noise from the front is deffo a rumble then i am fairly certain its wheel bearing related as this is a well known weakness on early Veccy's mine is a "52" plate and has had 3 rear and one front in less than 40,000 miles !!!!!

I think I will take it to a different dealer and see what they think, some dealers charge money just to look at the problem, and if they dont/cant find fault thats £70 gone. Mine is a Signum 04 plate 2.2dti, I test drove a vectra 3.0cdti once and it was awsum. I could do with test driving another Signum to see if it drives any differently. How can I tell if my 1 remaining original Goodyear is the faulty type?

Thanks for that, I dont think mine Is 1 of them, cant see a code on the tyre at all, and it says made in Germany not Solvenia. Shame cos the tread is getting low. I will ring the dealer tomoz regarding the rumble. Thanks
