Im thinking about getting a sub (12" maybe) & new speakers for the doors. Which type of amp would be best & what features would I need to run the sub & rear door speakers? Dont know much about this sort of thing. All help welcomed :D

Hi Matt21385,
Personally I would use two separate amps( and have done so in past installs )
If you are short on space and want install to be compact, look for an amp that can run in Tri mode. Allows Sub to run in Mono and speakers in Stereo.
(Don’t get a cheap amp if you choose this option)
Type of sub would depend on type of enclosure i.e. ported or sealed, although ready built sub boxes with built in amps are also very good now.
Speakers for doors… I would look for Coaxial (separate Bass and tweeter- much better clarity)
How many amps and their power rating depends on what sort of thing you are after, i.e If/When you want to crank it up(and you will!!) you can..... :D :D and not sound like many Muppets do with just pure distorted tunes pouring from the car........not good ....
Hope this is of some help to you. :D Once you start there is no going back.....

I put 17cm Alpine Type 'R' dual cone speakers in the rear doors of veccy today and they went in without to much hassle. (may need a spacer - luckily alpine supply a couple of fairly universal ones)
Going to attempt the components at the front tomorrow (weather dependant!)
