Hi there i have another question from a newbie veccy C owner. I've read the manual front to back, just to make sure i'm not missing out on any features that aren't apparently obvious and i seem to have a problem with C.C. First day i got the car i was driving along and pressed the top button on the stalk to turn on the cruise (what i weird feeling, my car was actually driving itself  ) Anyway, i broke which deactivated the cruise, but then i couldn't turn it back on, the only way to turn it on again was to turn off the engine and start again, am i doing something wrong?? i did have a theory that maybe it knows your driving i.e stop start around town and will not let you turn cruise on unless you have been motoring at a relativly constatnt speed for a while??

Any suggestions or is that another trip to the garage!!

I thought mine had stopped working, then I realised I had my foot resting on the clutch, it was in just enough to stop the cc working http://www.websmileys.com/sm/fingers/fing20.gif

i have done that before bainie, if you are touching either the clutch or brake even if ya not pressing them then the cc will not come on

Mine had a wabbly just after I had it - wouldnt switch back on sometimes when I hit resume. Trip to a garage and I had a new 'sim' fitted - a known problem! - ok now

Mine played up on the way to Billing. Booted it out of the Newmarket services and once I reached 70, switched on the CC and nothing happened. Pulled over and restarted the engine and all was well again. Worked fine ever since.

There is a known problem with the clutch spring, fixed under warranty, this could be your prob mate ...

I had the same problem with my LS... took it back to Vaux and they replaced the whole pedal box as they couldn't get hold of a V6 clutch pedal spring (which apparently is a stronger spring than the one on the LS  )... every now and then the CC won't work but if I fully depress the clutch pedal it seems to sort itself out again, no need to turn the engine off

Wonder if Vxl have sorted out these gearboxes for the launch of the facelift. I think they need to be taking a long hard look at them and coming up with an alternative.

Cheers for the repiles guys, today i have been playing with the cruise, on/off and its been fine, i still think the increase/decrease buttons are a bit unresponsive so i think i'll mention it to Vx when i take it in.

I take it there is no "resume" button to take you back upto the speed you were doing when it was last activated it is there..?

Duncan

Yep, there's a resume button. It's the decrease speed button which if no CC is activated resumes your last speed.

You're joking... :mad2:

I should read the manual - thats one thing I wish it had - and it does

This is my first post, I have just bought an 02 Vectra c 2.0 DTI LS as a second car for the family, nice one it is too, but since I got it the CC has not worked at all, according to the handbook there should be a light on the dash when you turn on the ignition but this too is not there, could it be possible that CC is not instaled on my car even though the stalk has the controls:rolleyes::rolleyes: Can anybody advise?

hi and :welcome: mate,
i retrofitted cruise control in my car and i had it activated via tech2 but there is still no cc light when i turn on the ignition, just like it happens to you... however, the cruise control works great, i can use all its functions when i activate it the CC symbol turns on in dash immediately so i really don't bother why it doesn't appear when just ignition is on :D

can you activate it while you are driving?

Welcome!
If the controls are there, the CC is there.
The warning light only comes on when CC is engaged.
If it won't engage, try pulling up on the clutch and brake pedals, to make sure the switches aren't engaged. Also try giving the stalk buttons a good few prods, as they can get a bit stubborn with misuse.
Hope this helps,

Phil

Also only works about 20mphish and on most models you need to have pressed the brake pedal once before it will work too.

With my old 1.8 sxi, the decrease and increase buttons had crud under them.
What it meant was that when you pressed it up or down, it was essentially pressing both buttons at the same time.

The effect of which is nothing, it doesnt turn on. However if you already have it on and it does this, the cruise control then turns off!

Quick clean, compressed air, and pushing up and down firmly solved it for me

The tap up / tap down doesn't work the way I expect it to on mine: never has done.

On the old volvo, you could tap up once and it would increase speed by a few mph. Tap down once to decrease.

On the vectra, it all seems to depend on the duration of the tap and whether you're going uphill or downhill.

e.g. tap up once going uphill or flat, you can hear the engine do something, but it falls back to the original speed unless you hold the button down. Tap down, and it does decrease the speed.

Going down a hill, it's the reverse: tap up once will increase the speed, and tap down does nothing unless you hold it down.

don't really need cruise control, i have bricks of varying sizes and weight to "rest" on the accelerator pedal, works a treat on long journeys, not too good at driving on towns though, having to swap and change the bricks for different speeds.........

My CC is tempremental, one minute is working ok, next min it won't engage. Had similar problem with my previous vectra v6. That's not good.

Why would you want to? CC comes as standard on all Vectra C's.

UK spec ones do, but comfortcruiser isn't in the UK. Some non UK ones also don't have a factory fit alarm either.

My cruise control is playing up now, if i push the resume button the cruise control stops working until i restart the car, seems to be loads of us out there with problems.
I bet Vauxhall would say there are no known faults!! LOL

The switches on the break/clutch needed adjusting on mind. Same fault! Try lifting the clutch up with your foot whilst driving over 30mph and see if the cruise control works now.
