My old VW Passat (2001) had a key like this. VX needed to improve the perception of quality, hence the key. (VW sucked by the way).

I had 'em on both my Octavias.
They're a bit bulky, compared with the existing Signum key, but they're a nice thing to fiddle with, if you've lost your worry beads......

As soon as I saw the New Astra key I asked my dealer if it was feasible to have one of those fobs programmed for my Signum. I liked the idea of not having the key part sticking into me in my pocket!!
Basically it was possible but would be very expensive. The blade part of the Vec C/Signum key is totally different style to the Astra one. The metal bit that goes into the lock may be the same, but what it's attached to is all different.
That means that you would need to have the balde bit on the New Astra fob cut to match the Vec C/Signum lock. I can't remember the cost, but it was on the exepensive side for each fob.

I Too Contacted Vx Today, They Told Me This Was Not At All Possible, As The Keys Are Not Like The Old Ones Where You Could Split Them And Remove The Chips Inside...the Chips Are Now Part Of The Key, And For Some Reason, Its Not Possible To Reprogram, As It Would Be To Expensive...
