Talking to the Keith in sales at Charley Warners (N.Hykeham /Lincoln) who tells me VX have finaly decided to remove the ****** self locking boot mechanism on the new facelift version.
Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrray -if its one thing I hate its having to keep pressing the key fob or door button every time I want to get something out the boot.

Oops Dwabo!! I do like the auto-locking tailgate on mine. I tend to lock the doors when I'm driving along (especially in towns) as you never know who might try something. But if I have forgotten at least I know that they can't open the boot when I'm stopped and grab a camera bag or something!!

Funny you should say that ..... but ... ive done the same on holiday in s. wales ,Putting the kids toys away and getting ready to go out ( stress head , and the wife was doing her bit by NAGGING ) My options were either to call the father in law or the AA ,
So did both , really i should've held fire with the father in law as i still get grief now !!! , but i called the aa .. the bloke was a good chap and did everything he could , if it wasn't for the dead lock system he would've got in ....
there we were still with keys in boot , The AA man said'' the only way your gonna get into your car is either A) get the spares .or. B) break the window  , By this time i'd had enough and just wanted to get the keys ,So got on to MY INSURANCE and explained that i was on my hols and had no way of getting the spares ( VERY EMBARASSING)... so they put me through to Auto glass , who luckely had a back o/s glass, and that someone could be with me in the next 40 mins :p how goods that ?? So AA man bust the window ,And we cleaned up the glass , The glass man came as we finished the glass clearing :D
All in all it was a good day ..... I learnt alot..... And all because the wife was nagging and nagging and nagging

They hang around near lights, open the boot and grab the first bag they see and before you've got your seat belt off and got out of the car - they're off with a big head start!
Never happened to me, or heard of it where I live - but heard of it in larger towns/cities.

I dealt with a couple of instances of that when I was plod in Newcastle. Never did catch any of them though. One of the instances was a business man who lost his laptop, 1600 quids worth apparently. Not nice.

Don't really hear of this happening these days, what with increased car security, and cctv in most busy town centres. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, cos there'll always be opportunist crimes of this type, but in my 2 years of working in a police control room (covering 4 largeish cities/towns plus loads of smaller ones) I've only ever seen one case of a bag snatch off a passenger seat (through an open window) and never from a boot, but i'm sure it happens a lot more in larger places like Brum, Manchester, London, Glasgow etc etc.
I like the auto boot locking, as well as the fob only unlocking just the drivers door on the first click, they're both nice little 'peace of mind' features.
