Hi all,

New to this, I've just swapped my 03 2.2i elegance (after 122k) for a new 56 1.9cdti design (150 of coursehttp://www.vectra-c.com/forum/images/smilies/new_smilies/rockon.gif with 18" rims, VXR styling pack, IDS, ESP & parking sensors:eek: ).

I've got a Harman Kardon IPOD interface which I've wired in apart from the aerial connection for the FM interface, now I'm stuck!, the CDC40 DAB stereo has a strange aerial connector, any idea where I can get converters (or any idea what connectors I could get from Maplin to do the job), also would adding the FM modulator unit **** up the DAB receptionhttp://www.vectra-c.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif ?

Cheers Cameraman

The Aerial connectors are the same as (i believe) BMW & VW any car audio shop should be able to provide you with the suitable adaptors.

As for mucking up the DAB reception. It will not as they have seperate aerials.

The Ipod connection kit sounds great, will have to see what it costs if it turns up. I paid £82 for the HK drive n play (off ebay against £150 in halfords), it seems to work ok as a fm transmitter, if a bit flakey, but it can be wired in on a aux input or via the aerial direct. The only input i've read about on the cdc40 was a mono for sat-nav or phone so it would be interesting to see how it would work, probably a new crop of stereos for the 2007 VX's?

This is a link to the IPOD connection kit however its another fm based kit like mine but I have a controller mounted on the steering column surround & a seperate display mounted on the dash, the ipod is in the glovebox, the colour of the bits is a good match for the vectra plastics.

If anyone is interested the connector on the CDC-40 aerail is known as a "fakra" connector, I've got one of the 2 leads I need off e-bay, haven't had time to get to an ICE shop yet.

I am in the middle of fitting a Denison FM transmitter for my Ipod. The leads supplied with the kit has the adaptor to the 'fakra' type connector. Trouble is that it only works when held in just the right position, not when pushed back in to dash. I really need a better quality adapter lead that locks on the fakra like the factory fitted connector does, preferably angled. Ive tried auto leads but they don't do one.

Also because there is no ignition switched 12V at the CD70 I tried to use the electrical aerial output. There is only 3.5V at this point, is this a fault with the head unit?

I think you're best bet would be to tap off the cigarette lighter/accessory socket for the switched live rather than off the back of the radio, I would think that the aerial output may run the aerial amplifier on some models? (although I stand to be corrected there).

As for the connector I can't help, except I believe that some german makes use this connector and may have suitable adaptors available through their dealers.

Hi

I thought i might find a thread somewhere relating to installation of the Harman Kardon drive + play unit...i'm thinking of getting one looks a pretty good soloution to connecting to the head unit I have, CD40 Opera DAB.

Can you tell me if the display is detachable at all, also i have a query regarding the aerial connection, looks like it is a square plug, as you say Fakra, found one here http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/8128.html, is this the only lead i will need?

I've also been looking at the IO play, not sure how this would connect to the head unit, Halfords advised its a standard ISO connection. £69 on Amazon £150 at Halfords. http://www.my-io.com/Products/iOPLAY.aspx

thanks in anticipation....
