after recently getting "the bug" for improving my stereo,I would like advice as to the best way of doing this.I have an 04 Sri with the CDR2005 CD unit. I know replacing the head unit alone would improve things,but I have then thought about the amp/sub route as well. Not going to go "overboard" as I used to do in my younger days,just want to improve things so ;

1) Get a new headunit i.e.

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/234339/art/jvc/kd-g421-cd-car-radio.html#

2) Fit an amp/sub from the o/e CDR2005 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JBL-BTX-250-BASS-TUBE_W0QQitemZ270033283375QQihZ017QQcategoryZ18805 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem )

If I go for an aftermarket head unit,what else do I need to keep the display? What colour of fascia adaptor do I need? My trim seems to be a dark grey/charcoal colour

Thanks in advance

little point in trying to keep the display - i think when i checked it costs around 60 quid and the information displayed is minimal.

get the wiring harness for the steering wheel buttons, about 35 quid and oviously much more useful.

ask a vauxhall dealer to identify the colour and ask them to order up the fascia surround.

for 25 quid you should get the fascia plate and ISO connectors. as it turned out i didn't need the wiring from vauxhall for my jvc headunit.

you can upgrade the headunit, using the equipment as mentioned above. could also change the speakers, and perhaps add a sub, if you so wish.

You can get 16.5cm speakers in all the doors if its the same as the facelift model. May have to cut a little in front doors if they are meaty speakers!
