    Default Lost Car keys

Im not sure if this is the right place to post this thread but i lost my car keys the other day.

My spare set does not seem to work :/
The boot button will unlock the boot, the lock button works, i know this becuase the red light appears, the open door button does not work becuase no red light.
This should not be expensive to fix right as its only the button that isnt working.

Also if i unlock the car with the actual key the alarm goes off so i cant do that.

How much would it be to replace my first set of keys and do you think i should do it or just get the spare set repaired... If i can.

You can buy new blank cases off ebay for £10 or if the microswitch is damaged you can just by those from ebay as well.

Your last resort will be a new key from the dealers for £120 OR you can save yourself a few quid if you have op-com and can buy a brand new BLANK key off ebay. Dont buy a second hand key thinking it can be recoded for your car as it cant.

Just rang perry up near me to get a quote on new key, they said i needed some king of number that i didnt know so that would be 25 quid for them to get and then had to pay for key and fob so it would be 141 inc VAT for it.
Id prefer to sell the car then pay that

If you open the car with the key, open the door and put the key in the ignition which "should" turn the alarm off. You'll probably find the remote will work after this. This happend on my preface spare key, and sometimes on my main key on my facelift.

I put the key in the ignition and yeah i started the engien and everything but it still would not work, when i push the button down it just donesnt feel like anything is happening. If i get in the car and drive will the alarm go off becuase i dont want to be driving the car while the alarm is going off. To be honist if i can get this key fob to work then im not buying a new one. At least ill be able to use the car.

About the spare key fob Innes said something about the microswitch being damaged. The chip is still like coded to the car so this should not cost much to fix?

Its just the thought that somebody else may have my car keys, becuase this is what happend.

I only work down the road so i walk most of the time. So i walked to work, then went home for my dinner. On my dinner my brother rang me to loook for something in my car so i went and had a look, then my dinner was up so had to go back to work. And when i finished work i staying in all night. The next day try to find my keys and they are gone. So they cant have gone far. The only thing that may have happend would be if they were in my pocket when i went to work and they dropped out on way but im sure i left them in the house :/

As you can unlock the car with the key I would imagine you can still start it and drive away. Have you tried?

The garage is on about the car pass. It should have come with the cars mannual/service log etc. its credit card size and has a list of about 6 things with numbers after it. To programme the key you need the ECU security code which is a 4 digit number and the Key Cut code which is a letter followed by 4 numbers. If you dont have the car pass then you can get a new one from Vauxhall for £25. I bet you have it but didnt realise what it was.

You can still drive the car, the key in the ignition will de-activate the alarm as the key is "recognised" by the car. As for the button not working, this does indeed sound like a dodgy microswitch. Either there is a dodgy contact or, on my preface remote, my buttons were rubbish, so as a temporary fix, I opened it up, sprayed with switch cleaner and placed a bit of paper / card between the switch and the button on the remote. May be worth a try for now, but you can still drive the car without the alarm going off whilst you're driving
