Default churping noise from altenator region

hey guys just have a quick question !
ive noticed over the past few weeks that my cars developed a what can only be described as a churping sound coming from round the altenator area, ive been told it could be either the bearings on the said part or a pulley is ready for going..
could anybody enlighten me on this wierd noise and a solution to it cheers ste
    ps its a cdti 150

If it's a 'twittering' sound, when cold, which goes as the engine warms up it'slikely to be the Auxiliary belt (pulley and/or tensioner).
