Xenon's weren't self levelling.

Folks,

Got my car back a few days ago after having had a problem with the self-levelling of the HID Xenon headlights.

It took a few trips to VX (over about 2 months) to get it sorted as they had to replace a wiring harness, and they also replaced some lenses and a few other components. (All under warranty though!).

In the end they had to contact Vauxhal Technical as the ECU wouldn't talk to them and let them calibrate the lights! - I think they replaced the ECU in the end!?

Anyhow, they're back working fine again now! WooHoo!

Just thought I'd share that one with you!

Bet you're glad it was all under warranty Grant!! Sounds like it would have been bl**dy expensive!!

You thinking of fitting some Xenons Alex? They would look the muts nuts on your car. I keep toying with the idea but the cost, and the problems I've heard other people encounter has deterred me so far.

No too expensive for me, I've other things I want to do to the car. I was just saying that all info placed on this site is greatfully received.

Gotcha - I'm just waiting for the first person to retro fit Xenon's without resorting to capacitors/resistors to stop flickering and that also works with check control. Then I can have a good gawp and see what kit they used! LOL

I still think angeleyes will look good on the Vec C?

Haven't really looked at them I must admit - I don't even know if they're made for the Vec C? Now that I've got my SRi headlights I don't think I'll be changing them in a hurry - that is until I see something that I have to have! LOL

Xenons would be nice, but they are bl**dy expensive as you say!

Aftermarket Angeleyes won't be that expensive. I'll let everyone know when my car is wearing the first set.

Yep - absolutely m8!!!!
Wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise!!!

It had to go in 5 times.

1st time for analysis and hopefully a fix - diagnosed a faulty wiring harness - on order.

2nd time to try and fit the Wiring Harness which took about 3 weeks to arrive, and then I went on hols for 2 weeks and didn't want them to keep the car while I was away!

3rd time - they couldn't fit the harness from underneath so had to re-book the car in for 2 days as they had to take the dash out.

4th time - harness and other stuff replaced, but ECU not responding to recalibrating.

5th time - ECU recalibrated. WooHoo!!!!!

Still I wouldn't be without HID's.
This is the second car I've had with them (Vec B GSi before) and the "C" are the best yet.
A mate had a Laguna with HID's in but they are absolutely pants. In all honesty I'd say my 1st Veccie (P-reg Veccie SRi140) had better lamps - no joke!
