    Unhappy What is this noise?

    Hi

My Vectra has the 2.2DTi diesel engine with just over 16K on the clock.

Just recently I have heard a whistling noise coming from the engine bay at speeds just above idling.

Can anyone offer an answer to this noise. Is it the turbocharger and if so what could be wrong with it?

The car is still under warranty but before I go to the dealer I would like some idea of what to expect.

    Thanks foranyreplies.

could be a dry bearing, a leak in a pipe, anything. I'd take it to the dealer while its free.

Hi.I to have a 2003 2.2 dti vectra which also makes the same noise.Dont fear anything is wrong with your motor.I feel that it is the vacuum boost for the turbo. Hope this puts your mind at rest

iirc there was something in a Field Remedy about whistling on a turbo on a diesel engine. I can't look now as I'm not at home (not back until middle of next week) but will do so when I get back unless someone else does first.

I've got the 2.2 as well, I thought that was just the turbo spooling up and down.
