I need to fit a handsfree kit.
Does anybody know how to remove the A-pillar trim so that I can run the microphone lead? It looks like the curtain airbag might be anchored at the bottom of the A-pillar.
Thanks

I didn't dare take that trim off just incase I set the airbag off!!
I ran my wire down the steering column and mounted the mic on the pad between the cluster and the steering wheel
give leeds vectra a pm hes your man
Just pull the a-piller trim off, its only clipped in, its not attached to the air bag at all..
As Rich says, it just pulls off. You won't set off any airbags.
This PDF should help you as well. You may damage a couple of clips when taking it off, these can be easily obtained from Vx.

You all beat me to it. As above

Fantastic. Thanks.
All I do is get my fingers under edge and pull a little then took wire behind with screw driver I have done this with last 3 cars and not taken trim off and you couldn't see any wires
I've just been scoping out the install.
I've pulled as hard as I dare, but I can't for the life of me get the A pillar trim off. The flat plastic clip that goes through the trim at the top just won't budge. I could just tuck the cable in between the trim and the door rubber as suggested above, but this would place the wire between me and the airbag. I'll see if I can tuck it in between the windscreen and the trim instead.
I've also had the radio (CD30) out. Vx have conveniently labelled the pins, and there's even a (mono) audio input. I'm not a fan of Scotchlok connectors so I'll probably just get an aftermarket cable adaptor but there's no ignition switched supply to the radio.
I dismantled the trim around the cigarette lighter to see if I could tap in there and I noticed that there's a unused wire taped to cigarette lighter connector. Anybody know what that might be?
Is it safe to put a wire in front of an airbag ? will it not prevent the airbag functioning properly ?
